History

The Kitchen Warehouse began in 1970 as a lone source of kitchen remodeling supplies in Los Angeles and there was a building boom at this time. Al Ferguson and Henry Martinez started their business, The Kitchen Warehouse, by remodeling kitchens. They soon learned that there was a limit to the number of kitchens they could remodel themselves, but there was no limit of the need for the cabinet products that they were installing. They became the exclusive dealer for the modular line of cabinets from Aristokraft Cabinets. Their product challenged local cabinetmakers who could not compete with the 'just in time' manufacturing or the quality of the product. The durable, baked on finishes that the manufacturers could provide offered superior performance. Local cabinetmakers could not replicate the finish.

Soon, hundreds of installers, homeowners, contractors and developers, would drive to The Kitchen Warehouse to pick up cabinets on their way to the job site.
The Kitchen Warehouse was a stocking dealer of many cabinet lines and was the only source in town. Their warehouse is located close to the 10, 405, 110 and the 5 freeways giving them a proximity to all greater LA areas. Al's son, Glen Ferguson, soon joined the team working from delivery person up to kitchen designer and supported the business growth. When the National Kitchen and Bath Association began setting kitchen design standards, The Kitchen Warehouse became a charter member.

In the 1980's the kitchen and bath business began to change with consumers becoming more educated on the home improvement industry and wanting to have more say about their own kitchen design process. Contractors and builders simply did not have the time to spend to consult with them. The designers at
The Kitchen Warehouse had been solving contractor and do-it-yourselfer's design challenges for years so it became natural for them to sit down with the homeowner and work out the details.

The designers at The Kitchen Warehouse knew all the products of the many modular and custom cabinet lines they carried and the customers benefited from the practical application experience the designers could provide.

With so much experience in the field of kitchen design, the owners of
The Kitchen Warehouse developed a computer aided design (CAD) system that could show consumers what they were going to get in 3-D including the door styles and color. This further improved communication between the consumer and the installers and often prevented costly mistakes that were identified before installation. Husbands and wives could provide their input and see in seconds how it affected the look and the price of the project. When other competitors came into the design market, The Kitchen Warehouse sold their CAD system to a fortune 500 company. Their experience and software have made educating the public an important part of what The Kitchen Warehouse does best.

Today, The Kitchen Warehouse provides eight full time designers who use their computer design system to show you what your kitchen and bath will look like before
they are installed. We carry 16 major cabinet lines and our showroom
displays over 30 kitchens. Our designers are still the most experienced in
the industry and their understanding of the entire process of kitchen and
bath remodeling
proves invaluable. We have the best resource to help keep
your kitchen design and remodel project on budget.

Al Ferguson retired in 1988, and today his son Glen Ferguson and partner Henry Martinez continue to run The Kitchen Warehouse with the same expertise and workmanship. Their employees are well trained and have access to decades of experience to continue designing and supporting kitchen & bath remodeling projects in Greater LA. Their excellent reputation endures with help from the thousands of satisfied customers who continue to keep their company growing strong after 37 years.
